To advance cardiovascular health for all and reduce related health inequities by building a lasting collaborative effort for Atlanta.
Our Vision
Healthier Atlantans through equitable hypertension (HTN) control.
North Star Goal (5+ Years)
Through the collective action of organizations in health care and community settings, the Atlanta Hypertension Initiative (AHI) aims to improve hypertension control among more than half a million adults in metro Atlanta, reducing heart attacks, strokes, and other cardiovascular events over the next five years and beyond.
Why We Exist
Hypertension is a primary risk factor for heart disease and stroke, yet it is both preventable and controllable. Focused and concerted efforts at the individual, community and health care system levels can change outcomes for family members, colleagues, and neighbors in Atlanta.
Who We Are
The AHI is co-led by CDC Foundation, the American Medical Association (AMA), the Atlanta Regional Collaborative for Health Improvement (ARCHI), and the Metro Atlanta American Heart Association (AHA), with foundational leadership from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Together, these backbone organizations coordinate the efforts of leaders from over 90 organizations across sectors through a collective impact approach to focus attention and resources on advancing equitable hypertension control across metro Atlanta by catalyzing sustainable, community- and systems-level improvements. Ultimately, our shared goal is to bring over 500,000 more Atlanta adults with hypertension under control and serve as an example for others to replicate.
