Who Are We
The Atlanta Hypertension Initiative (AHI) unites organizations across public health, health care, community and faith-based groups, government, academia, and professional associations to advance equitable hypertension control in metro Atlanta through collaboration, capacity-building, community education, and clinical quality improvement.
Our Focus Areas
Community Capacity-Building
AHI strengthens the ability of local community and health care organizations to take effective action on hypertension control. Through hands-on training, shared tools, and measurable commitments, the AHI helps partners build the skills and systems needed for long-term success. Partners identify meaningful steps they can take — from implementing self-blood pressure monitoring to linking patients to hypertension resources— helping create a connected network of organizations working together to control hypertension in metro Atlanta.
Clinical Quality Improvement
Through collaboration, trainings, capacity building activities, and one-on-one technical assistance, the AHI supports health care organizations and health care professionals in strengthening quality improvement efforts that lead to better blood pressure control and cardiovascular outcomes.
Community Outreach
Through community outreach resources and campaigns, the AHI brings health education and empowerment to local communities. We collaborate with trusted community leaders to promote healthy living, and inspire action in familiar spaces, from churches to neighborhood events. Events like “Low Pressure Parties” make learning about blood pressure, nutrition, and exercise engaging and fun.
Champions for Hypertension Control
Across metro Atlanta, more than 90 organizations are joining forces to advance equitable hypertension control. From local clinics and community-based organizations to public health agencies and professional associations, AHI champions are driving change: improving blood pressure control, strengthening linkages to care, and bringing heart health into everyday spaces.
